If you suffer from tight hips or just want a beautiful way to vary up your practice, check out this variation on Lizard Pose which I learned from the amazing Kate Elizabeth Taylor.
Essentially, it simply involves painting circles with your knee as you hold Lizard Pose. You can make these as big or small as you like (even sitting all the way back into a half-split). I love this as it really massages deep into my hips and I find it deeply releasing and relaxing.
I also find it a very versatile variation to begin incorporating into your yoga practice -- it can be part of a Vinyasa Flow, a Gentle Flow or even a Yin Yoga sequence as a variant on Low Flying Dragon.
